Christmas

Finally resting. Everything was a huge success and the house looked great. We had a crew of people and way too much food. Alexis slaved over the food and everything was so good. We even put out a photos album of house pictures so people could see the progress. It was a good time and great to be with family. We now have the next two months to just relax and get ready to have our first baby. We can't stop smiling. Thank you so much to our family and friends that helped us slave on the house and make it a very special Christmas for us. "Read More."

A shout out to Aunt Cheryl.

Christmas Eve

We worked all day. We were about to kill each other but everything looks great. The last nail went in five minutes to midnight and then we collapsed. "Read More."

Thurs and Friday Night

Thursday night was the office party. All day friday we busted butt and Dad and I got the floor in. Just in time to bring in our enormous tree. "Read More."

Wednesday Night

Camrbidge's wreath.

No flooring tonight. I just couldn't take it. Alexis had the day off and called Home Appliance. (We've used them before and they've been very good.) A half hour later our fridge was back up and running. It was that little "thing-ama-jib" in the back. It had gone bad. My parents came and we decided it was time to unwrap the furniture. "Read More" for more pictures.

It doesn't unpack itself.

Dog is not sure what to make of it

Dad and I putting legs on tables.

Alexis and Cambridge doing some light decorating.

Mom's putting the covers back on things.

More holiday decorations.

Temporary arrangements.

Tuesday Night

More flooring. Almost finished the hallway now on to the foyer. Maybe have a 100 sq ft left. Finished painting the trim, windows and stairs. Wendy came over to cover up the electric green in the bathroom with a left over can of brown. She had put on the green in there before...sorry 'bout that Wendy. Laid a rug in the living room and unrapped the couch and chair.

Her: Where's this water coming from?
Me: What water?
Her: This water. Everything in our freezer is melting.

The fridge has crapped out. Oddly I had snagged a fridge off of Craigs List two months ago for $50 and threw it in the shed. The rest of the night was spent transfering food from my kitchen to the shed. Funny the way life works.

Monday Night

Paint the stair railings. Click "Read More" for more photos.
Install more flooring.

View from the other side. With all of our furniture in boxes that still has to be assembled, on the left.

Cambridge came over to make the reaths. Which look like a pro, by the way. Not sure why I don't have a picture of one.

Install more flooring.

The Plan

Is now the time to freak out? We only got half the floor done this weekend. We still haven't even finished painting. There are six days until we host 25 people for Christmas and people start arriving Wed. We've been making piles of food in the kitchen. The green we picked out for the bathroom is electric! It's enough to make Santa lose it. Luckily there's a toilet in there. Light fixtures, etc. I keep hearing Ty scream, "Driver! Move that bus!" and I just want to scream "No! Not yet! We're not even close to ready."

Virtual Earth

Wow! Just snagged this from Decrepit Victorian. While google maps has yet to come to my neighborhood with a satellite Windows Local Live has a nice shot.

Looks like these might have been taken last April. The new siding is up on the house but that truck is still in our side yard and the barn hasn't been painted yet.

Is that my brother parked out front or my parents? Doesn't look like the rest of us were home.

Watching Paint Dry

We got so much done this weekend. Everything got primed. The kitchen, hall and foyer got a coat of yellow and we put down a base of cranberry in the dinning room. The yellow turned out darker than we thought but we kind of like it and there is no going back now. We have 14 days till the 25th and we still have to paint the other rooms and install the laminate and switch out the light fixtures. Thanks so much to everyone that painted all day on Sat. You helped us a lot and we had a great time.

Real vs. Fake

After reading Minor Adjustments post I'd like to add this link about, what you might not know about your fake tree. Real Christmas Trees are a benefit to the environment.

And
this is just kind of funny. "Regardless of how far the technology has come, it's still interesting to know the first fake Christmas trees were really just big green toilet bowl brushes."

First Snow

We had our first snow last night. Not alot, but enough to coat the neighborhood. So we grabbed the camera and the dog and walked down to the neighborhood coffee shop. Click read more for pictures.

Crossroads. The corner auto shop turned neighborhood coffee shop.

Ahhhh...back home to the warmth. We've been so busy putting the
walls back up, we haven't put lights up. What a shame.
